A splash of this and a dash of that…on steak

What a day! We’ve been up to some serious arts and crafts which included a using a hacksaw (oh boy, wait until you see these pictures). We cannot reveal what this project is quite yet because they will be Christmas presents for certain someone’s and we can’t ruin the surprise! We will show you sometime after the holidays though, if they turn out. Our busy day led to this for dinner tonight:

In N Out

Oh oops…it was so mouth wateringly delicious that we couldn’t capture the picture before it all disappeared! How unfortunate. After a long day of Christmas shopping—and sawing — we decided to indulge and I don’t regret it one bit.

However, the other night we used the left over steak I had from my fajitas and let it sit in a marinade (sort of a dash of this and a splash of that effect – see below) for about 30 minutes. After seasoning up and pan grilling the steak, we added the marinade to the pan with a splash of red wine, scraping up the brown bits and reducing it to the consistency of a thick sauce. Delish!

Let it simma' down

Here’s the ingredients we added to the marinade:

½ cup of olive oil

1 finely chopped shallot

1 chopped clove of garlic

A splash of Worcestershire sauce

Juice of 1/2 large and juicy lemon

1 tablespoons red wine vinegar

1 tablespoon of soy sauce

¼ cup red wine

Salt and pepper

We also added some crunchy and fresh green beans sautéed in garlic, lemon and red pepper flakes. They were the perfect healthy addition to this simple and delicious meal!

Spoon the sauce onto the steak and sprinkle with parsely

  1. Very creative and sound delish……

  2. I love the sauce recipe for the steaks, normally my son would eat it with A1 steak sauce ( BORING!)
